Many schools aren’t set up to give students with dyslexia the kind of instruction they truly need. That’s where the Orton-Gillingham Approach comes in—it’s one of the most effective approaches for helping students with dyslexia learn to read. It teaches reading in a very clear and organized way, starting with the basics of how sounds and letters work together.

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is based on the work of Samuel Orton and Dr. Anna Gillingham.

Here’s what makes it so effective:

• Explicit instruction: Every student starts at the beginning. We never assume they already know something—we teach each skill directly.
  
  

• Systematic and cumulative: Lessons follow a logical order and build on each other, step by step.
  
  

• Multisensory learning: Students use sight, sound, and movement to help the learning stick.
  
  

• Paced for the student: We go at the student’s pace. They only move on once they’ve truly mastered the material.
